Herbal Products
Humanity, health and herbs have been inextricably linked for countless millennia. Even now, in the 21st century, a majority of pharmaceutical drugs are derived from the active ingredients of healing plants. However, extracting and concentrating only one of the many hundreds of useful chemicals in a plant can increase the likelihood of adverse reactions. Our own metabolism has developed in parallel with these same herbs, and when they are taken holistically, with the full spectrum of beneficial phytochemicals, the side effects are rare and normally mild. Herbs work synergistically with the body’s own chemistry – the results are sometimes a little slower, but the benefits are often at a deeper level, producing a more profound and lasting improvement in health and wellbeing.

Herbal Tablets
HERBAL TABLETS and capsules are not all the same – many contain only small amounts of ground leaf or root with insufficient of the active ingredients to have any therapeutic effect. All our herbal tablets are made from concentrated ‘standardised’ extracts, ensuring maximum levels of the important phytochemicals. Many have convenient one-a-day dosages which encourage long term compliance. This is vitally important as herbs often do not show their full effect for some months. Herbal medicine works on causes as well as symptoms, so sometimes a little patience is greatly rewarded.
These high potency herbs are particularly suitable when longer term use is recommended, and are ideal when travelling.

Detox and Digestion
DETOX and DIGESTION are high on the list of health concerns today. Some of the earliest documented uses of herbs are as ‘digestives’. Originally herbs were eaten fresh or made into teas – still an effective way of harnessing their healing and soothing effects. Modern life often requires more concentrated support of the digestive system, so tinctures and tablets may offer faster relief from the symptoms of digestive problems. Fortunately, Nature provides a wide range of therapeutic herbs which can be combined into gentle yet effective prescriptions. Some herbs have soothing and anti-inflammatory effects; others encourage the production of gastric juices; still more of them provide stimulation for a sluggish system.
More recently, the polluted world we live in has caused many individuals to look at regular ‘detoxing’. Ideally, detox mixtures should address all the purification pathways used by the body: gut, liver, kidneys, blood, skin and lungs. Note that whilst herbs may be helpful when used alone, they will always be more effective when combined with suitable diet and lifestyle adjustments.
